Beki
Franchock

Beki began her journey in clay in 2019 at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center. Her work is evolving but is primarily functional, wheel-thrown porcelain which she either carves in bas-relief or decorates using a technique known as sgrafitto. This process includes applying a colored layer over clay at the "leather-hard" stage, then scratching away the color to reveal the natural color of the clay beneath.

She loves the tactile experience of working with the three dimensional clay as well as the decorative two-dimensional images carved into the finished piece.

She is inspired by the beauty and varying images in nature that surround us to create her work. Beki also loves making personal bespoke children's dishes for a new baby, little one or really any other special occasion!
